Living Through Them was an art exhibition created by Bloomington High School teenagers and curated by Luke Lowers working with Illinois State University.

This group of Bloomington High School students volunteered to join a collective of teens with the goal of creating art that served their community and raised awareness.

Planning

Before the school year ended, the teens met once a week to discuss social justice issues that they cared about and problems they saw in their community. We brainstormed art projects that could come from it.

Result

The result was 3 different art exhibits each tackling a different social justice issue. Racial Equality, Mental Health Awareness, and LGBTQIA+ Tolerance. The show was on display in Transpace Galleries at ISU during Summer 2019.
